Windmill Road/Bateman Street

The postcard above, looking north up Windmill Road with Bateman Street (then East Street) to the west, dates from around the time of the First World War. On the left is a pump: Headington was only just beginning to get piped water now.
The house on the right with the girl and cat outside is now a guest house, and had an extra storey added to it in 1992. The other houses look much as they do today, but the pavements are still not made up.
