103 London Road
The previous building on this site (left) was built as a shop with one floor of accommodation above by 1921. It was numbered 25 London Road until 1933, when it was given its present number.
Above: No. 103 London Road was rebuilt in the early 1960s.
The 1921 census shows Reginald Ernest Griffin (33), then a carrier & jobmaster working on his own account at No. 103 and living here with his wife Kate (27) and their son Ernest (4). From 1935 to 1947 he ran the Central Garage here, and the photograph above left probably dates from this period.
