3 Larkin’s Lane dates from the early eighteenth century. It originally was just one-storey high; the top floor was added a hundred years later. Along with its neighbours, it was part of the estate that belonged to The Grange on the other side of the road in the nineteenth century.
This lane is not named in the nineteenth-century censuses, and was sometimes known as Grange Lane in the 1920s. The first time it appears in the census is in 1921, and it is not mentioned in directories until 1930.
The 1921 census shows William Pratt (68). who was retired, living here with his wife Mary.
Miss Ada Pratt lived here from 1930 to 1936.
Edward George Jones lived here from 1938 to 1941, and then moved next door to No. 2.
By 1943 the house was occupied by Frederick Edwards, and he was listed here in Kelly's Directory until 1976.
