FRIENDS OF BURY KNOWLE PARK, HEADINGTON

Welcome to Friends of Bury Knowle Park

Bury Knowle Park in Headington is owned by the city council and has been open to the public since 1930. Everyone who cares for this park is welcome to become a Friend.

Its postcode is OX3 9HX (directions). It adjoins the London Road and has two main entrances (from London Road just to the east of the shops and from North Place), and two narrower entrances (at the north-east from Chestnut Avenue and the south-east from beside Bury Knowle Health Centre). It is open 24 hours a day.

You are invited to meet the committee and tell us your thoughts about the park and its future. This is a great chance to air your views. We will assemble outside Bury Knowle library at 6:30pm on Thursday 17 May 2012. Hopefully, the weather will be kind enough to allow for a stroll around the park.

Tree Planting

The Friends of Bury Knowle Park planted the remaining shrubs and twelve silver birch trees in the play area on Monday 12 March 2012 with the help of the Oxford Hub.

Bird Boxes

With the help of a grant from Headington Action, the Friends of Bury Knowle Park arranged the purchase of 24 flat-pack wooden bird boxes.

The Head of St Andrew’s Primary School organized for some of the pupils to come into school on a Saturday afternoon to help build the bird boxes, and children, parents, and organisers had a very enjoyable two-hour session assembling all the boxes.
